Lead Data Engineer

Our partner from Switzerland is one of the leading technology providers for the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry active in 30 countries in Europe and a total of 144 countries worldwide. In 2023, net sales of this company amounted to 11.1 billion euros and they employ about 4000 people. Their Supply, Solutions, and Service divisions cater to a transactional range of hardware/software, customized IT solutions and ready-to-use IoT applications, and subscription-based cloud offerings for software/hardware as well as platforms for cybersecurity, IoT, virtualization and AI.

Currently, they are seeking a talented Data Engineer with leadership ambitions to join their team and help modernize and enhance their data environment.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for integrating their platforms with corporate Business Intelligence. Your role will involve establishing a centralized and robust approach for developing, documenting, and using data and pipelines, as well as monitoring and improving performance and quality practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and structure them
  • Generalize data into the most suitable structure in the DWH for later data distribution within the organization
  • Introduce and set up DataOps processes and practices, including QA, Monitoring, Optimization, Security, Documentation, Knowledge, and Consistency
  • Design and implement business processes into functional and efficient pipelines
  • Transform legacy data pipelines into well-documented and clear DataOps processes and practices
  • Ensure a clear connection with the enterprise PowerBI business analytics platform
  • Lead and guide data teams and platform developers to harmonize platform data
  • Implement and oversee company data management practices, policies, and regulations

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years in the data field with experience to provide guidance and mentorship to team members
  • Experience with SQL (MS SQL) databases, data warehouse, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Power BI
  • Strong understanding of T-SQL query language and SQL execution plans
  • Experience with data warehouse architecture
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and working in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teams across different locations and time zones
