Principal Engineering Manager

They are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineering Manager to optimize and enhance the company’s IT systems. This role provides an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise and leadership to drive architectural improvements, refine workflows, and help shape the backbone of our client’s core products.

Main responsibilities:

  • Review, refine, and optimize existing system architecture to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, including in-house and outsourced developers, DevOps specialists, and analysts.
  • Manage Agile workflows, including sprint planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  • Take a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges, focusing on Python-based systems.
  • Drive improvements in system performance, product delivery, and overall development processes.
  • Collaborate with DevOps specialists to oversee infrastructure improvements and automation.
  • Work closely with the CTO to support IT strategy and future product development, including a new client system.
  • Ensure effective communication across teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.

Must-have requirements to apply:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with strong expertise in Python.
  • 3+ years in leadership roles (Team Lead, Architect, or Engineering Manager).
  • Proven hands-on experience with system architecture and optimization.
  • Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach: ability to organize workflows independently and drive team performance.
  • Fluency in English for effective communication.

‍Nice-to-have any one of these skills (not mandatory to apply):‍

  • Experience working in the FinTech sector (e.g., project-based).
  • Familiarity with NestJS or similar frameworks.
  • OpenBanking integration.
  • PDF data processing.
  • API Mocking.
  • Additional languages (Latvian or Russian) will be considered as a plus.
